Umansky and Haber launch alternative to NAR
“People want something different. We’re setting ourselves up for failure if we try to replicate the N.A.R. model.”
Reality TV star Mauricio Umansky and Realtor activist Jason Haber announced the creation of the American Real Estate Association today, formed as an alternative to the National Association of Realtors according to a report in the New York Times.
Umansky and Haber intend to announce AREA at Inman Connect NYC this week. Haber is the force behind the NAR Accountability Project and Umansky sued the National Association in 2020 in a database listing dispute.
Umansky told the NY Times that members of the new association will have access to the MLS via National Listing Service.
